Enshrined in 1994 … 1964 Albertus Magnus H.S. alumnus … Valley Cottage native, Pearl River resident for the past 27 years … for many years, Collins’s name was synonymous with Albertus … four-year All-County baseball player for the Falcons, and a key member of the 1963-64 basketball team that went undefeated against Rockland schools … Collins was head basketball coach and athletic director at Albertus for 24 years … his basketball teams won 400 games in that span — ranking him second among Rockland coaches in career wins in that sport — as well as 18 league, county, Section 9 or state regional titles … his 1979 team went all the way to the state Class B finals … Collins also coached baseball, soccer and golf at Albertus … in his 10 years as baseball coach, the Falcons won more than 100 games and two Section 9 titles … he compiled 70 wins in eight soccer seasons, and more than 100 wins in 10 golf campaigns … as athletic director, Collins increased the number of varsity sports at Albertus from three to 16… he also takes pride in spearheading the admittance of Albertus, the county’s only Catholic high school, into the Rockland PSAL in 1971 … he has been the county’s Catholic Youth Organization director since 1987 … president of the Rockland PSAL in 1982 … Collins is in his sixth year as Pearl River High athletic director.
