Elected in 1989 … Suffern H.S., class of 1949 … nicknamed “Blacky” for his jet-black hair … All-County football player for the Mounties in 1948 and ‘49, leading Suffern to Rockland co-championship with Pearl River … led the county in scoring in ‘49 … two-year varsity basketball player … during a four-year varsity career in track, he set school records in the long jump and hurdles, and ran on the mile relay at the prestigious Penn Relays… Consiglio earned his greatest fame as Suffern’s head football coach from 1965 to 1984 … he posted a record of 98 wins, 69 losses and 6 ties, with County championship seasons in 1975 and 1979 (9-0) … team won its division in 1969 and the county large-school conference in 1983 … was Rockland PSAL coach of the year in 1975, ‘79 and ‘83, and New York Daily News coach of the year in ‘75 and ‘79 … was also Suffern’s head track coach from 1962 to ‘68 and head skiing coach from 1974 to ‘88 … his boys’ and girls’ ski teams were Rockland division champs from 1980 to ‘84 … during college career at two schools (Arnold College, 1950-53, University of Bridgeport, 1953-54), he played varsity football three years, was team co-captain in his senior year, and ran varsity track (hurdles, 440-yard dash) for three years … was also an all-star pitcher during a 23-year recreation softball career with many teams in fast-pitch leagues.
