Inducted in 1986 … came to Rockland in 1966 from Mobile, Ala., residing in Nyack and later, Congers … perhaps the most dominant softball pitcher ever in Rockland … dazzling assortment of pitches, all thrown with blazing speed and great movement … gutsy and tire-less competitor … from 1966 to the time of his induction in 1986, Jemison had piled up incredible numbers: 2,146 wins, 145 losses; 54 no-hitters; seven perfect games; 26 straight wins; 11 consecutive strikeouts; nine successive shutouts; 80 straight scoreless innings; five team titles in one season … one summer, he won 98 games and lost 3 … won two New Jersey state championships with Mount Hope, which qualified his team for the U.S. Nationals … played with four to six teams per year, averaging 130 games pitched per year … won numerous MVP and Outstanding Pitcher awards … played with powerful teams in Rockland such as Apollo XII, Orange Lantern and Brenner’s Florsheim, as well as teams like Villa Mt. Ivy Nyack Cardinals, Tappan Zee Bar, Pal Chevrolet, Haverstraw Sports Club, Captain Video, Expert Roofing, Long John Silver and F&F Lawnmower… developed his strength as a shot-put champion for Bowling County High School in Mobile, with a best put of 52 feet, 6 inches…was an outstanding football player, too, but a severe leg injury ended his football career… Jemison has pitched throughout the metropolitan area and held several Central Park League records, including 36 straight scoreless innings and 11 shutouts in a season.
