Elected in 1978 … athletic director at St. Agnes School in Sparkill, a school for orphans and other troubled children, from 1934 to 1958 … arrived in Rockland in 1933, fresh out of the University of Alabama, and immediate-ly began enlarging the schoolís athletic program … dubbed ìMr. Everythingî at St. Agnes … athletic director, guidance counselor, social worker, discip-linarian, trainer, varsity and JV coach for the school’s six sports: football , basketball, baseball, track, wrestling, golf … in his spare time, he ran a full sports program for the St. Agnes alumni … turned down lucrative coaching offer from Villanova University to remain with the boys of St. Agnes … reliable won-lost records of his teams were not kept, but it is estimated his teams won an average of 50 games per year, all sports combined … over 25 years, that would amount to more than 1,200 victories … Faulk is credited with part of the success of the great Tappan Zee teams of the ë40s and ë50s, which drew a number of his tough, well-coached players … many of his football players went on to make All-County … Faulk rose to the rank of colonel in the Marines during World War II, and maintained strict discipline for his charges … his motto was, “It is better to build boys than to mend men.” … spearheaded the drive to build a new gymnasium at St. Agnes by soliciting donations from more than 400 graduates of the school.
