Installed in 1988 … Haverstraw H.S., Class of 1945 … record-setting basketball player for Haverstraw High who also starred in football, baseball and track … in basketball, a three-year varsity performer and two-year All-County choice … in the 1944-45 season, he set a Rockland scholastic one-game scoring record of 37 points and a 10-game county-schedule mark of 212 points … scored 90 points in three Section 9 Class A playoff games, another record … tallied 427 points in 19 games that season to lead Haverstraw to the first Section 9 title in school history … Haverstraw was crowned county champion four years straight, 1943 to ‘46, and lost just once to a county opponent in Feeney’s three years on varsity … Feeney played three years of varsity baseball and football, earning All-County recognition in foot-ball twice and playing on two county co-championship squads … he also pole vaulted for track team … in CYO basketball, helped his team to the title in the Newburgh Tournament in 1944-45 … Feeney continued to star in basket-ball from 1946 to ‘62 for local amateur teams such as the Letchworth Village Big Five and Haverstraw Knights of Columbus … He coached junior varsity basketball for St. Peter’s School in CYO play for many years, has been the school’s CYO president, and managed and umpired in the Haverstraw Little League from 1962 to 1972 … charter member of the North Rockland Sports Hall of Fame.
