Inducted in 1984 … 1937 graduate of Haverstraw H.S. … born and raised in Haverstraw, continues to be a fixture in the North Rockland community … a member of Haverstraw High’s first football team in 1933, he won four varsity football letters, was a three-time All-County basketball player, and won two varsity letters each in baseball and track … from 1956 through 1979, Cordisco coached the Haverstraw and North Rockland football teams to a record of 123 wins, 50 losses and 8 ties, winning five Rockland PSAL titles and two co-championships, and had a winning streak of 27 games from 1970 to ‘72 … he was chosen Rockland coach of the year in football six times, and the New York Daily News coach of the year six times … led the school’s basketball teams to five County PSAL titles from 1950 to ‘57, and was coach of the year four times … he is also the school’s longtime golf coach … Cordisco also was the school district’s director of athletics for many years … he attended Syracuse University on a full scholarship and earned three varsity football awards there … he has held numerous administrative positions in athletics, including president of the Rockland PSAL from 1965 to ‘77 … recipient of National High School Athletic Director of the Year for 1982, sponsored by the National High School Athletic Coaches Association.
