Elected in 1981 … 1927 graduate of Pearl River H.S. … played on the first football team in Pearl River school history, in 1924 … powerfully built fullback who earned three varsity letters in football, was captain of the 1926 team and chosen as an All-County back that year … also played baseball and basketball and ran track for the Pirates … he earned a football scholarship to Manhattan College and played four years of varsity on the offensive line, primarily at guard but also had considerable playing time at tackle … after graduating from Manhattan with an engineering degree, Yuda enjoyed a brief pro football career … in 1932 he played guard for the Paterson (N.J.) Nighthawks, and in 1933 and ‘34 he was a guard for the Philadelphia Eagles … he became Rockland’s second professional football player, after Howard Parker Talman of Spring Valley … Yuda later traded in his helmet and pads for an official’s uniform … he spent 38 years, from 1932 to 1970, as a gridiron official in New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania, working on the high school, prep school and professional levels … he helped organize the Hudson Valley Football Officials Association … Yuda died in 1991.
