SPRING VALLEY HIGH SCHOOL CLASS OF 1987

Pierre Fils distinguished himself as a high-impact athlete from an early age. As a 9-year-old Pop Warner football player, he was recognized by Hall of Fame coach Jay Bohnel for his explosive play as a defensive cornerback, particularly his ability to stop sweeps at the line of scrimmage. Coach Bohnel and his family remained long-standing supporters of Pierre throughout his academic and athletic development.

A 1987 graduate of Spring Valley High School, Pierre completed an exceptional multi-sport career before earning an athletic scholarship to the University of New Haven, an NCAA Division II institution. As a two-year varsity football starter, he led his high school team in multiple statistical categories, including tackles, rushing yards, receptions, interceptions, and forced fumbles.

Pierre also excelled in basketball as a three-year varsity point guard, leading Spring Valley to the Section 1 semifinals in both his junior and senior seasons. Hall of Fame coach Lou Kliewe praised his competitiveness, defensive skills, and leadership. Known as a defensive standout, Pierre led his team in steals and assists and ranked among its top rebounders.
