NYACK HIGH SCHOOL CLASS OF 1999

Julian Gould was an exceptionally talented high school athlete and a dynamic team leader. He starred for Nyack in football and lacrosse, serving as captain of both teams. Julian earned numerous academic and athletic awards at Nyack High School before continuing his successful collegiate career in Division I lacrosse at Princeton University.

In football, Gould was the starting free safety and one of the standout players on Nyack’s powerful 1997 and 1998 teams. The 1998 team remained undefeated until the sectional semifinals. He received several football honors, including selections to the All-League, All-County, and All-Section teams, and was awarded the 1998 Coaches Award.

Julian was even more dominant as a lacrosse player. He served as Nyack’s starting goalkeeper throughout all four years of high school, earning numerous League, County, and Section honors. In 1999, he was named the Journal News Most Valuable Athlete in boys’ lacrosse, as well as the Red & Black Club Lacrosse MVP.

Gould represented Nyack on the Hudson Valley Region lacrosse team for three consecutive years at the Empire State Games, helping his team earn medals each year.

Julian also excelled academically as a Scholar-Athlete and graduated in the top 10 percent of his class. He became the first Nyack player to record 1,000 career saves and earned the prestigious honor of being named a First-Team All-American during his senior year.
