Charter member, elected in 1974 ... former Nanuet resident and 1936 Pearl River H.S. graduate ... his 20-year professional baseball career was highlighted by a four-year stint in the major leagues, mostly as a third baseman, with the Cincinnati Reds, 1941-44 ... compiled a 17-game hitting streak in his first 17 games with the Reds ... career big-league average of .209 (67 hits in 320 times at bat) in 118 games, with 11 doubles, 3 triples, 2 home runs and 34 RBI ... was a player-manager for his last six seasons in the minors ... Aleno earned 12 letters in four sports while at Pearl River, and was All-County twice each in baseball (as a shortstop) and football.
