Henry (Peck) Artopee -
Charter member, elected in 1974 ... Nyack H.S., Class of 1930 ... a superstar for Nyack in the 1920s, Artopee earned 11 letters in football, basketball and baseball, and also competed in track and field ... he starred as a fullback and first baseman, captained the football, basketball and baseball teams his senior year, and also was a stalwart in the 100- and 220-yard dashes and the high jump in track ... after high school, Artopee continued to excel athletically ... played for the famed Nyack Alumni football team, which allowed only two points for the entire season en route to winning the 1933 county championship ... he played first base for the Lincoln (N.J.) Giants semipro team (with fellow Hall of Famer Horace Tyrus), as well as for the Congers Liberty Athletic Club and the top-notch semipro teams of Dr. Pierre Bernard... Artopee also shone for the St. Philip’s A.M.E. Zion Church amateur basketball team, one of the county’s top teams of the early 1930s.
